Not only that, the market is very small.

Just a quick update on this, I got it working. I'm using driver 61.76 (I think that's right, I'm at work at the moment) and I was able to run both BF42 and Oblivion with pretty much max settings and NO LINES! Hopefully I'll finally get to play Oblivion for a decent amount of time but I tested BF42 for about 20 minutes on Omaha Beach with TDM and was racking up the kills! With higher resolution, my aim just became much more accurate with a machine gun ;)

Nice, I really have grown found of the 9x.xx series. The Control pannel is nicer than that other crap they had going.

It's 61.xx, I just wasn't sure of the decimals after the 61. But yes, that's about the correct driver! If you read the link I provided earlier pointing to the forums that discussed the VIA conflict you'll see that the problem was narrowed down to any drivers 67.xx on up. It just so happens that I have a bunch of older drivers on hand just in case problems ever arose, and this time it did. I actually have another driver that's 56.xx, I think that's the oldest I have. It didn't seem to be causing any problems, of course I haven't really tested Oblivion all that much

didn't via put out a new driver that fixed the conflict??  It is hard to think that other people have this same problem and have to use drivers that old without updating.

Looking around in the nvidia forums I found this:

Quote
Start->control panel (might wanna change control panel to classic view)->display->settings->advanced->troubleshooting->>  bellow the hardware acceleration slider there is a box you have to untick, Enable Write Combining.  Uncheck this then it will ask you to reboot.

It is worth a shot.

Tried it last night. I installed the latest driver then unchecked the box. After that I tried to open my games and it wouldn't. Oblivion didn't recognize the video card and BF42 just flickered the screen black for half a second then went back to the desktop. IE ran slowly because the graphics were loading at a snail's pace.

Putting the old driver back and rechecking the box fixed everything again. I think, for now, I'll just stick with this as I really don't run into any problems.
