Man, I know that a bunch of us run it. Someone else had experience with Tamato, but I have not. As long as you have the correct model's firmware you are golden.
Yeah he's sorta paranoid I think he thinks that I'm brick the firmware (even though I've done it like 6x already without really any issues...Mozilla is the biggest problem I get. Gotta do firmware updates in IE I truely think for them to go right). I even had a partial brick at one time but it's really pretty tough to completely brick your fw as long as your using the right version. I just reset the boot delay using putty when I telnet in and re uploaded the new firmware bin from file. My first real proud project I did was with my Asus WL 700 router. The thing is running a 160GB internal HD built into the router which is cool because it acts like a network drive. I miss it at times because it was reflashed completely running unix and I had a mysql database running on it's little 250mhz processor. I installed a lot of cool little things as well like a streaming itunes server (think it was maapd if I remember right) and a web gui based utorrent for downloading direct to the HD.
I really wouldnt mind getting that back again sometime. It was def worth the $$ I spent for it.
Anyways, wish linksys routers had more flash mem so we could do something like that with the 54GS or something
