Title: COD 31-1st
Post by: Mr.Tibbs on October 29, 2008, 03:41:27 PM
Are we going to stick with just COD4; or are we going to be playing the beta for World at War? I wouldn't mind trying it out.

Go to filefront and download it there. Then register at www.callofduty.com/beta

If you already have an account you should be able to get a key to install.

My TS wasn't up?! I though I set the forwarding rules since I reset the router last weekend. will make sure it's working for tonight.

EDIT 1: Oh no wonder... I must have mistyped the password when i last reset the thing, so I have to reset my router again. Will post here again when I have it working.

EDIT 2: Should be working now.

You prob couldnt even get on mine if u tried. Sometime between Sat night and today the power flickered off so all 3 servers got rebooted. I had to go in and restart everything up so it's up and running now. Hopefully it doesnt happen again. I'm not really sure how I lost power but I'm not over there so maybe someone hit a pole or something. Maybe I should look into a small APC LOL

I would if I were you. I seem to remember you mentioning having power problems a few times. Bad power is VERY bad for your PC's. I couldn't recommend highly enough getting an UPS on your system ASAP. In my opinion, an UPS is as important to protect your hardware as anti-virus is to protect your software.

LAWLS...Umm you remember my n00b mistake a few months back with my "lack of firewall protection"...LOL. Yeah hopefully with this paycheck I'll be able to take a couple hundred bucks and buy one. I'll have to research it a little more to find out what my needs are. For whatever reason the power has been flickering on and off this past week which is making it annoying for me. It  wouldnt be so bad however I dont have enough spots to port forward all 4 servers RDT ports so I have to go in and manually change the ports out to get access to all 4 (or just remote into remote into remote but I get confused easily..LOL. Hopefully that makes some sort of sense)

Jon (aka Nitro) refuses to give me the ok to DD-WRT the Linksys so I'm stuck with 10 port forward addy's. What can u do I guess.

I have a Cisco PIX 501 sitting around that I haven't bothered to configure and setup yet.  Just not motivated enough to do it yet.

Didn't you just graduate from YTI about 3 or 4 months ago??  You make it sound as if it was years ago.  And the PIX line is still a good product.  Just being replaced by the ASA series.

I went to YTI back in 1997...omg that is along time ago...

Well it did its job well.  I think we had it running for 4 or 5 years straight with no downtime or reboots.  It is a little hard to configure for home use but the peace of mind it offers makes up for that.

Man, I know that a bunch of us run it. Someone else had experience with Tamato, but I have not. As long as you have the correct model's firmware you are golden.

I use Tomato.  It's certainly better than the stock fw.

Yeah he's sorta paranoid I think he thinks that I'm brick the firmware (even though I've done it like 6x already without really any issues...Mozilla is the biggest problem I get. Gotta do firmware updates in IE I truely think for them to go right). I even had a partial brick at one time but it's really pretty tough to completely brick your fw as long as your using the right version. I just reset the boot delay using putty when I telnet in and re uploaded the new firmware bin from file. My first real proud project I did was with my Asus WL 700 router. The thing is running a 160GB internal HD built into the router which is cool because it acts like a network drive. I miss it at times because it was reflashed completely running unix and I had a mysql database running on it's little 250mhz processor. I installed a lot of cool little things as well like a streaming itunes server (think it was maapd if I remember right) and a web gui based utorrent for downloading direct to the HD.

I really wouldnt mind getting that back again sometime. It was def worth the $$ I spent for it.

Anyways, wish linksys routers had more flash mem so we could do something like that with the 54GS or something
