Selling the "server" hardware $350
« on: August 02, 2013, 09:01:59 AM »
I've downsized considerably and moved alot of my lab stuff over to my work's servers.  What little I do require locally is now running on much more modest hardware.

Thus its time to sell my old lab machine:

Core i7 920 2.6Ghz - never overclocked http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Processor-2-66GHz-LGA1366-BX80601920/dp/B001H5T7LK
ASRock x58 Extreme http://www.amazon.com/ASRock-X58-Extreme-CrossFireX-Motherboard/dp/B000T9PP8E/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1375451629&sr=1-1&keywords=asrock+x58+extreme
6 x 4GB gSkill Ripjaw DDR3 http://www.amazon.com/G-Skill-PC3-10666-Ripjaw-9-9-9-24-desktop/dp/B003SLFBUC/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1375451841&sr=1-5&keywords=ripjaw+9-9-9
Dell Perc 5i Hardware RAID Controller http://www.amazon.com/DELL-Integrated-Channel-Serial-Attached/dp/B003L9GU1A/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1375451950&sr=1-6&keywords=dell+perc+5+i
Thermaltake TR2 500 Powersupply - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817153165

NOTES:

1. No hard drives
2. Currently in Media Center-ish case
3. Currently has AMD3450 PCI-e series Video card
4. Unless I can find them... you'll need SAS to SATA break out cables for the Perc http://www.amazon.com/Tripp-Lite-S502-20N-Internal-inches/dp/B0027JQI9O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1375453486&sr=8-3&keywords=sas+to+sata

At one point this thing ran labs for GNS/Dynamips, a lab domain complete with individual servers for Domain Controller, Exchange, Web Server, ran all of vG's gaming servers for CSS, CSGO, MC, CoD4, CW, KF, and others that at this point im forgetting.  Ran all of these at the same time with no performance issues other then on startup (but we can attribute that to read speed of the drives).

Perc 5i at time of usage had 4 x 2TB drives and was capable of 275-300MB/sec sequential R/W speed in RAID5.

I'll be at the LAN in August.

It definitely is.  Theres a huge supply of them out there and they're fairly inexpensive.  Chrono has one as well, and he upgraded the ram module in it to a 512MB sick.  He gets slightly faster speeds than I did.

Updated OP to add in Thermaltake Power Supply, brand new in box.  Price also reduced $50.

The thermal take PSU is no longer brand new in box.  I had to open it today to test on another system with a failed PSU.  I have a picture of it still in the shrink wrap though before opened.  Was only powered on for 5 minutes or so.
