Gaming Rig 4 Sale
« on: July 09, 2007, 07:26:04 PM »
Friend of mine is going off to enlist in the military. He has sold all his posessions off and since he can't take his computer with him he is selling it. Now it is nothing real fancy, good start for someone going PCI-E. It has a 7300GT in it at the moment. I have only one pick of it in the dark all lit up. The asking price is still forthcoming, so just bear with me a moment. Anyways here are the details:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 clocked to 2.1ghz
512MB DDR2667mhz PC2-5400+ timed at 4-4-4-12
200GB Seagate Barracuda SATA II 3gb/s HDD
nVidia 7300GT 256MB clocked to 400mhz core
Biostar 945P mainboard

Has windows xp installed and ubuntu linux also. The motherboard will support 4gb of ram, but he recommends getting a better motherboard. Not that there is anything wrong with this one, but it really isn't the best.(his words) If he can't sell it which I am sure it will probably be sold here, I will either keep it or his girlfriend will take it. Either way it has to go and no parting it out, it will be much of a hassle for him since he is going of to basic. I will keep you posted on what he wants for it, but any inquiries here will be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't mind getting a good base for a new system.  I would consider paying about $350 for it.
Never, but never question the engineers judgement.

I'd probably be willing to sell just the build for $350. That would already be severely underselling it, excluding the 17" viewable LCD monitor. I'd be willing to take $400 for the whole thing: build, monitor and my (legal) copy of XP. I just did a price check on the build since I built it in March and it still would cost more than $350; but I am willing to take a hit.

I also forgot to mention in the list I gave the Asus 16x SuperDrive with lightscribe. 52x CD-RW/16x DVD-RW.
The only reason I would recommend a new motherboard is because of the limited overclock ability and the 667mhz memory support. With the clocked settings I had thrown up, I was able to run any Source engine game at max settings minus 16x anti-aliasing at about 150FPS constant. The only game I struggled to run at great settings was Oblivion for obvious reasons. I was able to get 30FPS with everything maxed on Oblivion except for grass and shadows. With a 7900GS and another stick of that RAM, that system would anything at max video settings with a great frame rate. Oblivion might need a little tuning, but that game needs a DX10 card to run really pretty anyway :P

Computers are like cars, they depreciate so fast, eh? :(
