Need a mobo
« on: January 10, 2010, 10:01:13 AM »
Soooo..... I don't suppose anyone has a spare AM2/AM2+ motherboard with 4 ram slots laying around that they don't need, that they'd be willing to sell for cheap? I don't need anything fancy, like dual pci-e 16x slots.... just something to plug my x2-3800, 4770 and 4x512 sticks into.

I'm trying to get my hands on a working/reliable one to get my half sufficient gaming, half bedside htpc working again and ebay isn't being very cooperative what with always having auctions end up $10-$20 more than I am comfortable with, and that's before shipping. ($10-20 isn't very much, but right now I'm really trying to cut unnecessary costs)

You will be hard pressed to find a AM2 motherboard that has dual 16X PCI-E. Most run at 8x and 8x if you are running two cards. But in your instance you would only run 1 card. That is if you plan on adding another card.

He said he didn't need anything fancy like dual PCI-E 16X slots.  Have you looked at a new one?  I am not sure how much you are looking to spend but at Newegg there is this one for $65 including shipping:  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138124
I have had a biostar TForce in my system now for three years I think.  Been running good the whole time.

My mistake.
That's what your parents said....OH! Zing!
Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

Yeah, something like that Biostar is generally what I'm looking for. Simple, pci-e, 4 ram slots and gig ethernet. Looks like I'll have to wait until next month to have the guarantee that I can get a reliable one. Hopefully I can get it before the lan.
