I have found some nice laptops brand new for 500 so I am looking for somethign under that.

It's called 'Driving the Market'. 

There is one thing that I need to fix.  The ac adaptor has a very minor short in it near the end that plugs in to the laptop.  I am going to splice and re-solder the connection - easy fix.  Other than that, it's in good condition.  It has some minor cosmetic flaws like some scratching on the outer case.  And the right mouse button needs to be pressed with just a little more pressure.  Gateway Windows XP Home OEM certificate of Authenticity is in tact and is what is on the machine now.

I will reformat and recover using Gateway's recovery partition and I will update with windows update (with SP3 if you want).
