Youtube Issues
« on: September 14, 2008, 04:13:54 PM »
When I watch Youtube videos or any video that uses Flash. It has a tendency to stutter; every few seconds at a time it will hang for a brief second and go and repeat. The buffer is far beyond the starting point; so it isn't a issue of it buffering. I am on a wireless network with a D-Link DIR 615 router and a D-Link DWA-140 USB N adapter. The rig is as you can see in signature. I have tried IE, Opera, Firefox; and they all do the same thing.

Coincidentally I had a Windows Update that stated that it improves IE and Firefox video playback on websites. I have yet to try it. But whenever you go to sites like Youtube and don't have the flash player. They always take you to Adobe and it always displays the most current version.

Only if you do not have the flash player installed already.  If you have a version that's older, it won't take you right to adobe UNLESS it is so out of date that it can't display the content.  Doesn't hurt to try.

Ad Aware isn't virus protection.  On a related note to this I recently was trying to stream from Fox.com and I found that i have to shut off Ad Block Plus in Firefox to be able to do it.  Just an FYI for anyone else trying.

NoScript add-on FTW.

Allow and disallow individual scripts(flash, java, etc) for each site.

No VIRUS PROTECTION!   WTF?!  The next time you come to a LAN you better have some on your PC - installed AND updated!  Jesus Harold Christ, use AVG for god's sake!  It's free and it's SOMETHING!

Isn't it in the TOS of coming to the LANS?  Don't you have to have virus protection in order to connect to the network?  I am surprised none of us got any virus warnings during the LAN.

While I am not quite as energetic as Decepticon I do have to agree.  Why wouldn't you have some virus protection since there are free ones out there.  They don't use that many processor cycles or hard hard drive space to affect your gaming.

If it makes you feel better decepticon. I got AVG with all the goodies. But also to point out about the whole TOS; I believe there is a part about monitor size. No bigger then 19 inches, and people bring monitors much bigger then 19 inches.
