XP SP2 CD-ROM
« on: August 27, 2004, 03:03:00 PM »
Just in case you don't have a hi-speed connection, or don't feel like waiting for Automatic Updates to download Service Pack 2 for you, I will be bringing along a couple copies of XP SP2 to the LAN on Saturday.

If you can't make it to the LAN, you can pick up a copy of the disc at Staples. They should have them by the registers (that's where ours are anyways).

actually, the full network install is about 279 MB. If you get it via Windows Update, or Automatic updates it can be much smaller depending on how many previous patches you've applied (ie, you only d/l what you don't already have).

In either case, I've got 5 copies of the official CD's from Microsoft sitting here next to me that I will bring to the LAN tomorrow for distribution.

It even says on the outside of the pamphlet "Share this CD with a friend!"....so share I will.

If any of you are apprehensive about applying sp2 to your 'special' installation of XP Pro, fear not. I will be at the LAN party sometime around 6 with some geegaws that should help y'all out.

No, microsoft will allow the install of SP2 onto "special" installs of XP.
The thing they're blocking access to is windows update
