AM3+ has pins, AM4 socket will be out in 2012 and will likely be LGA due to the insane amount of pins needed to bring the whole northbidge on die.
LGA has problems, but I prefer it over pins. With the damaged described I dont think RMA is an option, most companies have people with almost super human abilities to detect socket/pin damage that are in charge of denying your warranty.
The pins will break if messed with too much. Grab a ultra fine mechanical pencil, one with a long metal tip is preferred. Take out the led and bend the pins in the most careful way possible back to straight. If the pin looks close enough its better not to mess with it. You may still have a dead processor when you are finished but its worth a shot.
