Title: Steam Scammer
Post by: Rinso on June 25, 2009, 01:03:57 AM
It seems as though there is someone in the FITES group on Steam that is trying to get people's Steam log-ins with some bogus warning.  I doubt anyone here would fall for it, but I figured I'd give a heads up anyhow.  The name was something like "::" I believe.

Can you remember any other info about them (an avatar or lack thereof) that we can try to track down who it was.

Edit: Nevermind, I think I found him. He joined and then left right away. Is this the man you saw: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198011299608 (http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198011299608)

Anyone who was contacted by this person/account, visit the above link and use the link in the upper left to report a violation.

I was looking for a way to forcefully remove a member of the group, but I didn't see how to do it. Maybe you can't do that with a public group, only the "Invite Only" groups, which I don't want to switch to.

As I was looking through the memberships, there is another account called "GiftFreeGame (http://steamcommunity.com/id/76561198003113337)" that is also flagged as a scammer account, so beware of this one as well.
