My steam is either retarded or dead. Even since lan I haven't been able to connect to steam for the reason of unable to establish connection. Anyone have any idea to solve this short of reinstalling?

No you mine as well reinstall everything, my friend gets that problem all the time. Downside is that you got to put all the games back on and get all the patches.  :cry:

did you go thru and verify the files from the steam page (right click, third tab, verify - or something similar to that).

Turn off Peer gurdian if you run it! It will not allow a connection to steam servers.
