Title: So I was borrowing a movie...
Post by: BurntIce on December 09, 2005, 12:26:54 PM
... from DC++ and lo' and behold an email shows up from my ISP saying that a company traced my download and told me it was copyright infringement of Paramount Pictures. Never heard of this before, but the email said all I had to do was remove it and send an email to them saying I removed it. What I wanted to know is if removing it means that they wouldn't pursue a lawsuit. Anyhow, my ISP has this 2 strike = account removal, and this incident happened on the 4th of Dec, and I just got the notice today? Any ideas or has anyone else run into this before? I've never heard of it...

Something just doesn't make sense, like how they could tap into which file is was downloading. I thought I read something about a privacy act that said since it was a direct connect transfer, it could't be spied upon? Maybe not, I'm no expert on filesharing.

ah, ok thanks for clearing that up. That is, I downloaded it from them instead of another user.
