Shrinking Iso Images
« on: October 01, 2007, 04:09:36 PM »
I tried DVD Shrink and it said it was a invalid udf filesystem. And I know that it only recognizes ISO files, which is what I am trying to burn. But it isn't a movie it is a video game that is to big to fit onto 1 dvd. Anyone know of any other programs that can shrink images? I mean I could try another file method and maybe that would shrink it, feedback here would be great.

Try MagicISO.  It's supposed to do what you describe but i've never actually used it.

DVD shrink actually renders the movie into a lower res and/or framerate.  It doesn't decrease it much so the effects aren't noticeable which is how it shrinks a commercial DVD onto a burnable DVD.  You can't do the same with a game since it is actually using the 8.? Gb of space of the dual layer DVD rather than the 4.7 Gb of space on a burnable DVD.
Never, but never question the engineers judgement.

DWG you might have it there. See I just saved it as an iso image, and usually that shrinks it a little bit. I used MagicISO, I will try this out.

Is it something that needs to be burnt to a Dual Layer DVD?  I downloaded the Denso GPS DVD for a Cadillac I kept renting.  When I finally got it down and went to burn, it was 8 gigs.

Are you trying to shrink it to burn or shrink it just to have an image on your machine?

I just realized that dvd shrink program is mainly used for videos on dvd. The thing I am trying to compress is Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts. I guess I need to get a dual layer dvd, luckily my notebook pc just so happens to have a dual layer burner.
