RA3
« on: October 31, 2008, 06:40:57 PM »
Well I bought RA3 but I can't install it apparently the cd key is not long enough. It is missing a letter or number at the end. So how many characters is it supposed to be.

HAHHA I just read about this... Here is what EA says:

Quote
QUESTION
What can I do if my Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 install code is 19 characters instead of 20?

Answer

If you are trying to install Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 and the code is only 19 characters long, then it is missing the last letter or number. This was due to a misprint on a small number or manuals and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

There is currently a work around that may allow you to bypass this issue. Since you have the first 19 characters of the code already, you can basically try "guessing" the last character. To do this, simply enter your existing code, and then for the last character, try the letters A-Z, and then the numbers 0-9. You should eventually get the right combination, and be able to play the game. If this does not work, you can follow the instructions below.

In order to get a replacement code, please click the "Contact Us" link on the left side of the page, and attach an image of your code to the incident.

If you do not have access to a digital camera or scanner, you can fax us a copy of the back of your instruction booklet, along with a copy of your receipt, to (512)-949-4994. Please include with your fax your First and Last name as well as your incident number.

If you would like, once you have created your incident, you can also contact us by phone using the number found on page 28 of your manual.

Note: If you decide to contact us by phone, please include the incident number that you created for this issue.

Typical EA. I have about $40 at Gamestop on a card. So I might go get another copy. Instead of having to deal with that Crap. I am going to tell the guy at GS. To crack it open and let me see the key before I take it home.

Why not just guess the last digit?  It would only take 36 tries and one has to be correct.  Save that $40 for the next game, such as left for dead!
That's Mr. Deception to you.

Agreed!

But if you are too lazy to do it, you could just supply me with the first 19 characters, and I'll gladly guess the last one!   :hehemean:

You threw it out.... because it was missing the last character of the CD-Key?

That event should be placed up there with your many failed overclocking attempts.

I hope you really didn't toss it out, if so that was like tossing out $40.00 for like 5 minutes worth of work.  All you have to do is put the first 19 characters in when installing the game and then guess at the last one (brute force it)!

Here I'll even get you started:
<first 19 characters> A  .... nope didn't work
<first 19 characters> B  .... nope didn't work
<first 19 characters> C  .... nope didn't work
<first 19 characters> D  .... nope didn't work
<first 19 characters> E  .... nope didn't work
<first 19 characters> F  .... nope didn't work

and so on...

... And what happens if you get to Z and it still isn't working??  I think I am with Tibs on this one.  Just go get another that does work.

0-9

^^ Ohhhhhhh so crafty!

Rathe, if you read what EA said they actually suggest you to do it this way, and they pretty much said that you'll find the last key by trying A-Z or 0-9.
