I know at one time it was possible to purchase just a key for a fraction of xp's price, is this still possible, anyone know anything like this?

yes you can still just order a key on pricewatch but it's still $79 bucks for that.

Is that a standard thing? I.E. will I be able topay $79 for Vista also?

purchase and a Micro$haft OS shouldn't be in the same sentence, Shame on you!   :snicker:  
but yeah, the suggestion above for pricewatch would be your best deal for an OEM version or key for xp..
