I can't remember who I was talking to at the last fites lan party, but they said they had a working driver for the PS3 controllers in Windows.
Even if they do exist, i might still be out since i'm running Vista x64.
Anyone have the x64 vista compatible driver for any of the PS3 controllers?

Sorry, but me and Decepticon are all about the 360 controller cause it just works.
-
well it wasn't me because I'm using a ps2 controller with a ps2-ps3 adapter made by pelican.

that link explains it as a ps2 to ps3 controller. he's looking for a ps2 to pc controller..

hey dork its a ps2 to ps3 converter, yes. but the ps3 ports are USB. so plug it into your USB port on your pc and its read as though it were a ps3 controller. also I don't need any special drivers installed to use my ps2 controller with my pc using this device. where as if I plug my ps3 controller in vista won't recognize it.
EDIT: because vista is a stupid turd.

Does the PS3 controller only use the USB connection for charging though? The wireless 360 controller is like that. It won't use the USB cable for communications, just for charging.

I'm not really sure. I know the USB ports are used for the RB and GH wireless dongles and also used for transferring data to and from the PSP but I'm not sure if the controller actually uses it for anything other than recharging. I can check my user manual but I doubt it'd be any help.

First of all, i don't have a PS2 controller, nor a PS2, and so i'm purely talking about hooking up PS3 controllers to Vista x64 via USB.
I think there's got to be more to the usb port than just charging. If i take my ps3 controllers to Cypher's house, my ps3 controller is still looking for *my* PS3 console. But the second i plug them into his PS3 console usb port, they are immediately recognized and functional. So, there has got to be some handshaking going on there. if i leave them plugged in, whether or not the wireless is being used is anyone's guess.

well then maybe there is some sort of special drivers that let windows talk to the controller and force it to use the USB cable to talk back. hmmm I will have to look into this.
