Program Suggestions
« on: June 12, 2007, 11:10:33 AM »
At CLN we were assigned a task to make a layout of a network. Which consisted of of 5 rooms with 5 computers a piece. And it had to have 2 servers. He wanted alot of detail like patch panels hubs and that sort of thing. We have been using Microsoft Visio and I wanted to know if anyone else has any program suggestions other then Visio. I tried but I wasn't happy with my results. Any program suggestions will be helpful, also if you had experiece using your program would be great to.

Yes, Visio is used just about everywhere for any kind of network diagramming. It is pretty much the gold standard for network design, documentation, and planning. It can also do a ton of other diagramming tasks also, but for network planning it's tops.
Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

Yeah I noticed that as well, you can make a layout of pretty much anything. Guess I need to pick up a tutorial on how to use it right. Some of the features still confuse me.
