PHP News Module
« on: December 10, 2005, 02:58:56 PM »
Maybe I'm retarded and just aren't looking in the right place. but I'm looking for a module that grabs news (complete headlines) from RSS feeds and then publishes it to my site. Is this possible, and if it is, any suggestion on what module to use? In addition to my content, I want to have the latest info from other sites too. Thanks for any help you can give me.

-Sam

I've never seen one that would take an RSS feed and format it for your site.  If there is, I'd be interested in doing it for this site haha

Sorry to drudge up an old thread, but it caught my eye.

Is this what you're looking for?

Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

I thought that was now a built in block on php-nuke and post-nuke...
Just make a new block and point it to the RSS feed.

Nice!

Shado, the difference is... yes you can have a block that pulls RSS info from another site, but it doesnt create separate news blocks like on our front page.. it just lists titles and links in 1 block

I guess I should have read all the way through... I bet you could start by looking at the block...

to do this you are going to need to do some PHP programming to seperate the new stories and then check your MYSQL (I assume) database to see if that story already exists in the system.  If it doesn't you can add it to the table and it will appear in the news block.  If it does exist, stop immediately because the rest exist as well.  Let me know if you need any help with the coding.
