Anyone know of a good network traffic monitor program? Say, if I wanted to see what files were being accessed and downloaded from my machine via windows file sharing... I've googled the crap out of it. The only program that I found that did exactly that was NetAware, but it is a terribly annoying piece of software.
Any other suggestions?

I took a look around, and you know I don't see anything else like it. But I did see something cool.. It would work if we used hubs instead of switched, but it would snarf file copies off the wire. LOL

There's actually a plug in for trillian that does this.

Got a link?

Ethereal
We use it at CLN constantly. Works great, just do a google search. Or I can give you the program from CLN, if you don't want to go hunting.

That works for packet sniffing, but he's looking for a file transfer monitoring program. Using ethereal would take too long to investigate all the packets just to find the filename.

I checked the trillian website earlier today, but the plugin site was down for maintenance(still is)

And if you wanted real time info from ethereal, well, don't plan on doing anything else.

You could get an Xray machine and look at the network cable at the back of your monitor.

Hmm, I'm actually interested in that. I think I'll download the 'trial'. And 'try' it before I 'buy' it.

This is cool, but it just gives you a snapshot.
