Title: Logitech G15 key replacement
Post by: The Nstuff on February 03, 2013, 09:53:18 AM
Last night, the little catches for one of the arrow keys snapped off, so the key rests in the slot, but it just barely rests on top of the slot so it's incredibly easy for it to knock off or pop out if it sticks to my finger.   I still have the one catch, but it's so tiny, I'm not sure how much success I will have to super glue it back in and it actually keep the key in place.

Here's a picture of the little plastic catches (http://therealwazzar.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/key_removal1.jpg (http://therealwazzar.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/key_removal1.jpg)) from underneath looking up at the keys.  There are two, one on each side.

Long story short, the keyboard is old enough, warranty replacement is out, and from what I'm reading online, Logitech isn't in the business of stockpiling replacement keys for customers.

So, does anyone have an old G15 (v2) keyboard that they never use or are going to trash, and I could steal one of their keys before they do?

The specific keyboard model is here:  http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G15-Gaming-Keyboard-Black/dp/B000UHE8YM/ref=pd_sxp_grid_i_1_2 (http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-G15-Gaming-Keyboard-Black/dp/B000UHE8YM/ref=pd_sxp_grid_i_1_2)

In the meantime, I'm going to attempt some repair work, but I'm not holding out for much success.

actually, i think i just fixed it... i'll give it some time to see how it goes.  Didn't think super glue would work, so instead, i used a hot glue gun to join the little catches (found both that had broken off) back to their original homes.  The key pushes into the slot and the little catches keep it from easily falling off.  They appear to be holding the key in now.

I actually started looking for replacement keyboards anyway, saw the G110 looked decent, but when i found my G15 is still being sold for > $100 at Amazon, it gave me the push i needed to try harder to repair it.
