My steam account got hacked. While I was at work. Wonderful. And since I don't make any purchases with paypal or credit cards, I am up Crap creek.

I sent them a ticket on Steam Support. I didn't catch they had a telephone number.

Yeah I saw all of that. Just not on that particular page. Still don't see a phone number. I guess what you were referring to was sending them a ticket?

Ok I see where you are getting at. I just gave them my UT3 Black key that I used on that account. No picture of course. I have DOW2 still with the key so I will run off a picture of that and submit it. I also have the HL Box set, just totally blows that I have to do this.

they recently added the whole 'contact e-mail' that you must verify (it's in the account tab under settings).  Would this in any way help recover from hijacked accounts?

I think Tibs is saying the guy who hacked his account is aware of FITES. Putting on my social engineering hat, of course he knows of FITES, he saw your group memberships. If the Steam support guy knows of FITES, well that's just pretty cool....invite him to a LAN ;)
