Well, I had a PC issue this week that I have resolved, but I though I would post it here just in case anyone else encounters this problem.
I decided to upgrade my current PC so I bought a few new components:
Asus P5WD2-E Premium Motherboard
Intel Pentium D 930 3.0G Processor
ATI Radeon X1900 XTX 512MB Video Card
2GB DDR2 Crucial Ballistix 800MHZ memory
Maxtor 250GB SATA drive
So after shifting my old components (including my 7 IDE hard drives) to an old chasis, I got my new parts installed. Everything seemed to work fine, until i went to install windows XP. Every time I would get into the section right after it is loading all the drivers I would get a blue screen of death with a PCI.SYS error. I tried changing various BIOS settings, moving RAM to different slots, using a different hard drives, etc. Nothing seemed to fix the problem.
So, I went to the net, researching online, most of the entries indicated the problem was generally related to bad hardware of some sort or bad memory. I was about at my wits end when I found a post that suggested using a SP2 version of XP. I had bought a new copy, but instead of unwrapping it, I had just been using an old version I had laying around. After unwrapping and using the SP2 version, the machine proceeded through setup flawlessly.
Maybe this post can help someone else avoid the hassle I went through.
And hopefully I will have everything reinstalled prior to the next lan so I can frag Pride many, many times.
