Ok. Found an iPad on the road today. Screen is shattered. It turns on but there are just lines all over the screen. So you think if I get the screen replaced or would work?

Were you able to swipe your finger across it, or can you just not tell if it works or not? If there is any kind of functionality it might be salvageable.

It should be salvageable but the problem you have is it isn't just the screen that is shattered it is the LCD as well.  I have shattered the screen on my phone (android but same idea) a couple of times but luckily I didn't break the LCD.  Swapping the screen and digitizer isn't too bad but the LCD as well will add more money to the repair.

You are looking in the ballpark of a bit over $100 to fix it.

No matter what though, you still have an ipad that someone threw out of their car.  I wouldnt sink any money into something that is likely to fail again.
