So I purchased a server for use with FITES on ebay... paid $530 for it, and the guy emails me 2 days later saying that the server isnt working, so he wont sell it... but he has NOT refunded my money.

Ebay requires 10 days after the ending of the auction before it will accept complaints..

I paid via paypal using a credit card. Anything else I can do but wait? What are the chances Ebay will work something out with this jerk?

doesn't paypal protect against that sort of thing? Isn't that why they're around? I think you may be able to have them do something.

Pay Pal is worthless in protecting either side of a transaction. And since they are now essentially e-bay, I don't think they can deal with this properly.

Actually, they got my money back on some switches that I purchased. I had no problems with them.

You think that is bad someone got my moms credit card online somehow. Anyways the guy charged like 400 bucks on it saying that is was Myst 3. My mom says did you order this, I said no, I know for a fact Myst 3 doesn't cost that much. It was eventually was resolved, just watch yourself.

Paypal will get results, but if they can get to the scammers money they will only reimburse you to a limit.

EBays buyers protection is a joke, I got hosed out of $400 by some homeslice in enfield CT and all they did was send him e-mails, heis account was never banned and he still sells crap today!

Just file a claim with paypal as soon as possible. And if that dosent work out get us an address and we can go bang down his door...

Got an email from the guy today. apparently he was out of town, and is shipping the server tomorrow (holds breath)

He said it was a failed HD... so he replaced it, said all is working now.
