HOWTO: Reset your TCP/IP Settings in Windows XP
« on: March 30, 2006, 04:58:20 PM »
At our large FITES events, we disable NetBIOS to prevent leechfests and bogging down the network. In some instances, this setting does not reset to the default enabled setting, which can cause some problems accessing shared resources on your home network when the LAN is over.

To reset your TCP/IP settings, click on Start, then Run, and enter the following text in the run box or copy/paste it:

Code: [Select]

netsh int ip reset c:\tcpipreset.log

Hit enter to execute this command. You should see a DOS window flash on your screen briefly and then go away. A log of the command's results can be found in c:\tcpipreset.log.

If you would like more technical informaton regarding this, see the related Microsoft Support Article 299357.

If problems persist, see the "References" section of the above link to troubleshoot further, or post your problems in this forum.
Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!
