So I purchased a DVI / HDMI cable for my Hanns G Monitor since it supported VGA and HDMI input. Out with the old, in with the new except i'm getting a stereo feedback coming from my monitor. I'm assuming res has to be native to support HDMI? Prob is I cant support 1920x1080. Also, upgraded to the 260 and some games are great with it while others seem to stuggle. WoW for instance tanks ATM, which shouldn't even be possible while CoD4 seems to maintain it's own. Thoughts / Feedback on what you've heard about game support with the 260's? My CPU temps are unusually high which is also scaring me. Voltage is at 1.275 however it's 50s idle and up towards 80 on load. So any ideas on why temps would be so dang on high? Just doesn't make sense (unless the cooler isnt making contact with the cpu i guess)

Anyways, thoughts / suggestions on a new kickass cpu cooler to fix this issue is welcomed. I norm would go with a Zalman 9700 but I know there are better coolers out there to solve my prob. Post away

Have you checked the games' developer's forums to see if there is an issue with the current driver and that game? WoW as you said should be able to run on lower end systems, so your system should be laughing at it at this point.

When you say stereo feedback, are you talking about audio or video? If it's audio, does your monitor have built in speakers? If so, the HDMI has the ability to send the audio signal and video signal in one cable (at least it definitely does for LCD/Plasma TV's). THe monitor may be getting the audio signal from the cable, and if you have a mic plugged in that is too close to the speakers, that would cause feedback. When you installed the 260, did the drivers also install an audio codec/driver?

Temps, yeah I would check that contact between the proc and the HS. It's a longshot, but that *could* also be the cause of some of your game stuttering....probably not though since it is only in a select few games.

The monitor does have build in speakers but its a loud popping sound. I will disable it when I get home. I appriciate thew feedback. It was worrying me and only started happening after I made the switch to hdmi over vga. Anyone hear any good reviews on a decent cpu heatsink recently? I really just need a better one than the 80mm spiral I have now. Thermaltake makes a crazy 140mm heatsink with 12 heatpipes. I bet it weighs a ton but it pushes almost 90 cfm. Thoughts?

I am currently rolling with a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme.

It's kind of expensive, and doesn't include the fan, but I picked up a 120mm Panaflo Ultra High Fan and its pushin ~115 CFM. I know for me it's overkill right now because I'm not OCing, but I was having heat issues with running my 2x 8800 GTS OC2's and getting this setup helped.

i read a review of that V10 and it's not as great as it looks. the thermalright ultra120extreme will kill it with a fast fan. I would assume the same with a zalman 9700.

The Thermalright does better than the 9700 in every review I've read. I think that could be credited to design and CFM over the Zalman. I like the V10 but it's a little costly and the performance isnt there in comparison to other heatsinks for the cost

Why don't you just go with the OCZ Vendetta 2 which had the best cooling in the review you posted?

Was debating it but the thermalright with a higher cfm than the one they had on would do better than the vendetta 2 I think. Both look like they are solid for oc fans like me. It is cheaper as well (it'll be 90ish if I go with the 120)

I'm just not sure yet what's my best bet. Buying a few 120mm fans to pull in more than the 45cfm I'm doing now will prob help a ton (gonna get 2 100 cfm 120's to push a lot more though. Its a combination of a few things I think that's giving me prob with my temps

I have no problem with airflow in my system. Then again I have a 250 mm fan pushing 80-160 CFM over my system.
