Well I got my new case today, swapped all the components, I go to startup and when it shows the "auto-detecting PriMaster" and so forth, it just hangs and says not detected. I don't understand it. the jumpers are all set correctly, I set up the ide cables exactly the way I had em in the old case, but it doesn't work!!! I even flashed the cmos! :P :bomb :computer help! please!

Can you list the components please? Also is the hard drive on the primary IDE controller?

Never flash a CMOS unless you absolutely need to, all you did was put in a new case, should have nothing to do whatsoever with the hard drives.

Make sure that when you turn the system on that you hear the hard disk wind up, it will make a funny winding up noise (can't describe it better). If you hear nothing after you see the bios screen for autodetecting the hd then power off the case, unplug the hd and plug it into a different power plug off the power supply, repeat.

Finally u can dig out the manual for that hard disk and enter the numbers manually. Since you flashed the CMOS all your old settings are gone.

Welll, I got the hard drive working...sortof. It starts up, detects, but when the winxp loading finnishes, it just sits there. Blank screen. Now, I'm really baffled.

EDIT: found out my jumpers or something weren't set right. :|

Hmmm...., did you change any other components? Like a new mobo or processor...?

HAHA.. Well it turns out that my hard drive's boot procedures somehow got corrupted in the transfer over (no clue why). I tried my dad's 80gb and it went smoothly. So I am currently in the process of transferring my valuable files to his 80gb, reformatting mine (and changing the FAT setting to an NTFS. it was originally a FAT32...45gb), then transfering my files back. I'm making sure my windows directory and all of my system settings are totally gone. My system had major major problems.

So when I join you guys at the LAN, I will be starting anew. With a new shnazzy case too! And maybe some glue.....to fix my new shoes....in case the two.....decide to go through...the blue....loo....goo.......yeah. O_o

Ooh. Guess whats new? My case is coo. My mobo seems bad thoo. Thanks to evan, he's a cool dude. He gave me some food. And some icecream too. Though, his grammar may be crude

Ok one more thing you guys could do to help me out. If you have free time, you think you can find the best mobo/cpu combo within a $100 pricerange? I've checked on pricewatch and am searching anywhere else. I dunno, maybe you guys know of better sites.
