Title: FDISK
Post by: Mr.Tibbs on May 17, 2007, 03:55:37 PM
Anyone know where I can get a bootable DOS 6.22 Disk that has FDISK, and the fdisk has to able to format a bigger drive the 2gb. Or should I say just the partition it is on, reason is, is that I got a copy of longhorn. And unlike Win2k or XP it doesn't have the stuff to just find the harddrive and setup a partition and format it to what you want. I can install it, it is just I have to have a partition already setup on my XP machine and just run it off the cd and install it that way. I still find that weird, so if anyone can find one for me or possible tell me the files to make one that will be great.

What I have:
Dos 6.22 bootable disk
Just fdisk can't format a drive larger then 2gb

Longhorn and vista do a image install, there is no point to formatting your drive.  It also uses WinFS, not NTFS or FAT16/32, you wont find a dos boot disk that can format a drive for it.  But you would not have a problem if you weren't using some cobbled together pir8 version.

If you go to the lan I have a bootable floppy image as well as a CD and USB image that will help you, let me know and I'll pack it.

Bah, can't go to the lan. I got homework that I am behind on and I go up to Watsontown, PA all saturday. Then the kitcar show at carsisle on Sunday. Yeah the copy I got some CLN isn't bootable. I know there is no point in formatting the harddrive in Fdisk, we have been doing that for virtual machines. He gave us a UBC (Ultimate Boot CD), I think that is what you are getting at. I don't have it on me would that work?

i've already built 2 2008 servers (codename: longhorn).  it has a bootable formatter on it...  when you boot to the disc, you select drive options when prompted to select the drive to install to.  just like vista.  you delete the partition, then format...  easy.

go on the microsoft site, bro...   i think they're letting out the beta 3 right now.  just sign up and download it.

UBCD is great, but i'm sure it doesn't have the new vista winfs tables on it.

Yeah really wanted to honest I had so much fun the last time I went.

Thx for the input GI but I got a bootable CD from other sources that I am not at liberty to discuss on this forum.

693$ for office 2007 ultimate!!  no way i'm payin for that dude.  no way.  MSDN is FTW!!!!

funny thing is, just about anybody can get it if you have a couple certs done, and a 100$.  you just get a certified partner, but...  you still get like 10 licenses of just about everything, and you get all the betas before anybody else.
