FarCry 1.2 patch and 6800's
« on: July 28, 2004, 10:59:56 AM »
If any of you happen to get a geforce 6800 or have one already....

I just thought i'd post up my solution to a problem as part of our knowledge base. So if anyone has the same problem, they can refer to this

when I bumped the lighting quality up to anything but low in the FarCry settings, I was getting massive texture distortions and shadow discoloration. Also the water didn't render correctly. I tried driver versions from 61.21 to 62.20 and they all did the same thing. I remembered that i had downloaded the 1.2 patch before it was recalled. I installed it, but tho that was a task in itself considering it didn't install to the right directory and had trouble trying to figure out how to crack it(just use the old no-cd crack).

Well, the 1.2 patch fixed everything and bumped my frames up about 10-12fps. I'm now running FarCry @ 1280x1024 with max game settings and 8x AA AF with ~40-50fps. Not bad.

Of course this might not be an issue when the patch is rereleased.
