Title: External Battery for Notebooks
Post by: Mr.Tibbs on July 27, 2007, 04:44:19 PM
I need one for my sisters Compaq Persario 700. I took it to a guy I trust and he took it apart and soldered the connections back together and still won't run off the battery.  It runs if you plug it into the wall, so if I just get a external battery for it, I can carry it around again. It will just be more of a pain. So any suggestions on companies who make these things would be great. He found me one for like 65 bucks, so if I can find one for cheap that would be great. O and no more then a 19v battery, anything else it will fry the notebook.

why not just get a new battery if you're going to spend that much?

Where were these connections soldered back? It just sounds like the battery is defunct.

It worked perfectly fine before, the battery is original. It still holds a charge, it isn't worth replacing the motherboard or anything. My sister packed it up and put it in a box when she moved back here. So there are alot of factors to consider, either way he just suggests that I get a external battery. I can run it off the plug in the wall, I just want the portability back, because it is useless to me if it isn't.

Yea, parts for common laptops are a dime a dozen, ypu might be able to snag a new chassis/motherboard for yours cheaply, or a used battery shell.  Otherwise I would suggest buying a UPS.

It doesn't run on the battery, so it could be alot of things. If it is plugged into the wall it is all good.

Well it's probably just the battery how long have you had it? if you've had it for a number of years
more then likely the battery lost charge after a certain amount of recharging cycles you'd be better off just buying a new battery.
