Domain Logon and Proxy configuration
« on: November 07, 2006, 02:24:11 PM »
Ok at work we have a firewall/proxy server set up to restrict internet access based on NT logon credentials.  We recently got a new server and we are combining our 3 previous domians into 1 domain to make life much simpler.  Everyone has moved to the new domain with very few issues.  The only problem I am having is that 1 person has a laptop and when he tries to access the internet it asks him for his username and password for the proxy server and the user that is listed is from the old domain.  Normally the credentials are passed silently and there is no prompt.  I have logged onto the machine and it works fine for me.  Where do I go to delete the old domain from the machine so it works correctly??

Delete the local profile for that user and log'em back in... Unless that profile has tons of stuff in it... You could also try re-running the internet access or is it remote access wizard again so that IE reconfigures itself.

Now I have a question for you... Is it really an NT domain or is it an AD domain? Cause if you are still running an NT domain for shame! But since you logged on to his computer just fine it is mostlikey a profile issue. Copy out his My Doc and Local Mail store (If not using an "always on" exchange connection.) And any other folder like their desktop... The strange thing is that if they were a person that was moved to a new domain it "should" setup a new profile like username.domain in the Documents and Settings folder.  But if they were not moved and still sitting in the old one... Well, I don't know exactly what to tell you... But them again I am one of those that need to see it to give you my best answer/fix.

Well we just moved to AD.  and his profile is 10 Gigs.  I'll try the internet access wizard though.  I'll let you know if that works.

Wanting to try anything to fix this I installed FireFox 2 on his machine yesterday.  It was doing the same thing.  Today when he comes in it is working fine.  I am not quite sure what happened but I am not going to complain.  He likes FireFox 2 better anyway.
