Comcast email
« on: July 16, 2010, 12:01:40 PM »
Can Comcast email be used with MS outlook?  Can the emails be stored locally instead of on the server?

if you are *ON* comcast connection, standard port 25 is fine.  However, i just switched to FIOS and found out rather abruptly that they block port 25, but luckily the company i get my pop3 e-mail service from supports the alternate port 587 (for outgoing e-mail).

Just FYI in case you run into the same situation.

Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

Traitor!

yeah... i know. comcast was really good to me. But Fios had a deal i couldn't refuse.  And well, there is this:

(i should preface by saying i'm now spending less on fios than i was on comcast, while getting faster speeds, unlimited long distance, and an HD DVR, not counting the free installation and $250 worth of gift cards for signing up... hard offer to pass up)

nice!

It's funny, i'm actually having a difficult time finding a server on speedtest.net to max out my connection... more specifically the upload speed.  I used to always use Washington DC, but the upload speed there maxed out around 15MB/s.  I've found Philly to be the best.

That's because Comcast runs the Speedtest server in Philly, natch.

If comcast offered higher upload speeds i'd be all on it but its tough to pass up Fios 20/20. I need more upload YO!
