Awful ping spikes when gaming

I have some nasty issues with ping spikes when playing all games, sometimes my ping is less than 50 and other times it shoots up to over 800. I get this issue with both the server browser and while playing. Someone please help me. I did not have any problems uploading this video.

As for network settings I did not have have any other applications open besides the video converter and the recording software, I turned off windows firewall, and I put my computer on the DMZ of my 2 Wire 2701 HG router modem.

Can anyone give some advice as to what to do?

Call your ISP and ask them to check the line. You seemed to have ruled out your pc.  I had this same issue a while back...turned out my cable line had some issues on the pole.  What ISP do you have?

Issue is now gone and I didn't do anything to try to fix it. Must have been and issue with my ISP which is Windstream DSL.
