Title: Boot drive cloning software
Post by: -Sp()()ge- on July 22, 2014, 07:57:28 PM
Looking to replace a 60 GB SSD with a 240 GB SSD.  The current drive has the Windows Boot.  Suggestions or tips on software or how to copy successfully the boot drive?

Cloning a windows 7 or 8(.1) drive?

EDIT: Actually, I believe with Clonezilla (http://clonezilla.org/) it doesn't matter.  I used it for a windows 7 partition and the only issue I had was that I had to manually fix the MBR by booting to a recovery environment command line and using bootrec.exe /FixMbr.  Your mileage may vary though.

Acronis?

That was the other one I used as well...but I thought their free version was limited in some way.

The one we use at work is Paragon Drive Copy.  The advantage over Clonezilla is that it is a graphical interface but Clonezilla is a bit more cusotmizable and forgiving when doing the copies.
