Title: BF2 Performance
Post by: louber1115 on December 14, 2005, 07:04:57 PM
I recently installed BF2 onto my new system, and I'm encountering some erratic performance.

The game runs great around 70-100 fps (even in heavy combat) but at intermittent times during play the gameplay will freeze for a second or two, this happens at times 4-5 times a minute.  The framerate doesn't drop or anything, the game just chugs.

Any ideas? :headscratch:

Do you have AV running in the background?
Any Defrag?
AV / Firewall Updates?
Windows Update?

Sounds to me like it is your system running an update or a diagnostic every so often.  Next time it happens... CTRL ESC back to desktop... check Task manager to see what is running...

Great suggestions Pride!  :2thumbsup:

I too think it could be something running in the backgroud, like an auto updater or something that is kicking off. Do you have the crappy winblows firewall on? Hopefully you don't have the auto update for Micro$haft on..

Also, does this happen in offline gameplay as well as online? That way we may be able to tell if it's something networking related.

Hey dude, your right in Mechanicsburg, bring your box over sometime and hook up for some BF2 gaming man! I useually have myself, my wife, and my buddy over here fraggig all day and night on the weekends.  I'm right off 15 and Slate Hill rd. I'll help ya find the problem to your BF2 blues!

Sweet dude!

Yes the problem also occurs during single player. I do have a bunch of AV stuff running in the background and crap, i'll try disabling it all and see if that helps any.  Perhaps Billa and I can swing over sometime and game a bit.

Hey, disabling my AV stuff and running on a lean boot fixed it riiiight up.

One problem leads to another though, at this time 4:04PM I can't log on to my online account. The error message reads "The connection was refused by the server" at the login screen.

W()()T!!!!!  Glad to see ya got it fixxur3d!!!  Hell Yeah guyz, come over some weekend for some BF2! Allthough this weekend is out due to being in the middle of a remodel project of my bathroom, it's totally gutted and I'm redoing it this weekend. But any other weekend lets get some fragging on and go OWN some n00bs!!  Too bad EA sucks at making games friend friendly as it's too hard to find people online in BF2 and connect right in or I'd say lets meet up some night online..
