Title: Bad Motherboard?
Post by: Fr4g0u7 on December 02, 2010, 09:15:01 AM
So lo and behold the day the BFBC2 map pack gets released my computer decides to take a crap.  Power went out last night and when I turned it on I get fans, lights, drives spinning but no POST.  I cleared the bios and tried again same thing.  I pulled out all the unneeded components and got it to POST once but when I turned it off and tried again same thing.  I pulled out the PSU and tested all the Voltages and everything was fine there so I suspect my motherboard bit the dust anyone else conclude the same?

I know after the last LAN I was having a similar issue.  I thought I had something bad as it wouldn't post.  Trying a different cpu and ram didn't seem to help it.  I finally got it to post using only 1 or 2 strips of RAM.  In the end I had to manually set the timings for the RAM to get it to use all 4 strips.  Hopefully it is something that simple for you too.

Could be a motherboard or a PSU issue, I know you tested the PSU but did you do so under load?

If its the PSU there is a insane sale going on PCP&C Silencer 750's

nod about the PSU under load, was the first thing i thought about.  You say it doesn't post... so try taking ALL memory out and see if you get any error beeps, same with the video card.

After further testing under load and trying the psu on a spare working computer I'm pretty sure the PSU is bad.  All the voltages test fine except pin 8 Power Good.  It tested good with no load but under load no go.  Will be ordering a new PSU tonight.
