more details? Happens in games, playing itunes/wmp/winamp/etc, watching a dvd, etc? If it is a soundblaster, make sure you didn't accidently enable an EAX effect full time.

Well, I know that most onboard audio are RealTek HD Audio POS's, have you downloaded the latest drivers? If so, try using a slightly older version of the driver. Some of the HD audio hardware is finicky when it comes to drivers. And the Realtek website is usually no help and when they are, they have xfer speeds of like 8kb/sec. Have a spare sound card laying around? If not, I'll look and see if I can get you a PCI card from my computer junk 'stock'. At least it will hold you over until you can get a better card.

You didn't happen to let automatic updates the sound driver did you? That happened to me once with my Sigmatel Audio on my laptop. I had to reinstall the driver to get it working again.

I think I got it fixed guys. If Nstuff remembers I accidentally ripped my controller out of my case USB port at the LAN I assume that the wires to my front audio ports were damaged in that horrific accident so to test and see if that was the cause of my audio woes i simply disconnected the front audio from my MoBo and lo and behold my audio is fine. so far. so thanks for all of your suggestions and i guess we have to chalk this win to DoubleG because he's the one who jogged my memory about the USB damage so thank you.
