ATI DRIVER UPDATE *If you have an ATI, READ THIS*
« on: January 04, 2004, 06:10:49 PM »
I have an AMD 1.4 Ghz with 1GB of Ram.  And an ATI Radeon 9500 Pro.

I have had some lag issues with BF1942 when alot of people or vehicles are on the screen.  For the longest time, I could only use the Catalyst 3.4 drivers to get the best results.  Any update was actually a decrease in performance.

Anyway, I stumbled across the Omega Drivers for ATI cards (http://www.omegacorner.com/) and I have to say, my BF1942 Speed increased in speed by more than 75%.

I do not have benchmarks, as I really could care less what my framerate is.  But by playing the game now, I have a totally new experience.

Desert combat (el alamein) is set at 1600x1200 @ 85hrz and everything jacked up to 100% and I have the smoothest gameplay I have ever had.

With the official drivers from ATI, I was getting lag at 1024x768.

Give them a try if you want.  But, remember to use the Cataylist Uninstaller from ATI's website before you install these as you need to remove all ATI installed drivers and apps.  http://www.ati.com/support/drivers/misc/catalystutils.html

If you do use this, let me know your thoughts here.   :2thumbsup:
