Anyone have one of these? Im trying to get a friends pics off his laptop and he doesnt remember his windows password so i figured id try to just slave his laptop drive to my desktop drive and copy them over. I need this adapter to slave it though. Unless one of you have a better alternative?

7 and a 1/2 inch warted semi-ridged Eastbridge Connector should work. Not the 6800 model but the 6900. The 6800's were on recall back in `99 for a reason.

I have an IDE to USB adaptor that works with laptop ide, regular ide and sata. You can use it if you want, maybe wait until the 200?

Just download this burn the iso and boot his laptop with it you'll have the password in a jiffy!

Or download a LiveCD for Linux and use it to get into the hard drive. Ubuntu is easy to use and it has drivers for most hardware on the CD.

This has saved my life a few times when I had to pull content off laptop drives

I have one of those too, but it stopped working after a few months. I was a sad pterodactyl after that :(

Also, faster than any password cracking utility is this: http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/

It won't tell you what the password is, but you can reset it to anything you want and then login normally. It's best to set it to a blank and then change it after you're booted into Windows, but it works really quickly. I use it all the time at work in conjunction with http://www.pendrivelinux.com/boot-multiple-iso-from-usb-multiboot-usb/ (along with other bootable ISO's). Together, I'm unstoppable!

Only bummer for that multiboot is the filename has to be identical in order for the program to see it. So I went ahead and downloaded some of the latest versions of memtest and gpart etc etc but had to change the name of the file to match what Multiboot thought was the latest version. That's the only way it sees it. guess they need to release an updated version

You can edit the menu.lst file in WordPad to put in whatever ISO you want. You're not restricted to the ones they include in their setup wizard. Notepad will cause line break problems, so stick with WordPad or some other program like Notepad++.

That's exactly what I decided to do. I ended up editing the menu.lst in notepad ++ and copy paste for the other iso's I wanted to load. Just did a reboot to test it out. Everything loaded nice so...
