Bent pins on an AMD phenom 955 blac edition

long story short ( tl;dr)
mobo went, started smoking
quickly took apart rig
got to teh cpu cooler, CPU came with cooler, 4-5 pins bent
try it on another mobo ZIF still locks it in place
will it work? or do i have to buy a new mobo and CPU?

AMD Phenom II 940 x4 ( 3.0ghz)
ASUS M4N72-E mobo
8gb of Gskill DDR2 800 gaming ram
(2x) EVGA GTS 450 1gb sli
1 seegate 500gb HDD ( primary)
1 western digital 500 GB HDD ( games drive)
1 Western digital 2tb drive ( media)
creative X-fi titanium
850w PSU

i guess this may be a stupid question lol. still very disheartening, ever since upgrading this rig ive had nothing but issues, will we see CPU's from AMD without pins? would love it if they would use th knobs like intel

  AM3+ has pins, AM4 socket will be out in 2012 and will likely be LGA due to the insane amount of pins needed to bring the whole northbidge on die.

  LGA has problems, but I prefer it over pins.  With the damaged described I dont think RMA is an option, most companies have people with almost super human abilities to detect socket/pin damage that are in charge of denying your warranty.

  The pins will break if messed with too much.  Grab a ultra fine mechanical pencil, one with a long metal tip is preferred.  Take out the led and bend the pins in the most careful way possible back to straight.  If the pin looks close enough its better not to mess with it.  You may still have a dead processor when you are finished but its worth a shot.
