IR Head tracking and SC
« on: December 13, 2015, 03:37:15 PM »
Has anyone who uses IR head tracking got it to work in SC?  I JUST purchased this two nights ago and am having a hell of a time getting my FacetrackNOIR setup to work.

I have tried all the suggestions out there (running the programs as admins, running FTNOIR first and then luanching, made sure the compatible games list is up to date, reinstalled FTNOIR and the hotfix).

What seems to happen is when I launch SC (the game not the launcher) FTNOIR seems to freeze and stutter and essentially stops tracking.  In game (I load the hangar to test) when it 'fades in' after it loads I can see the view 'wobble' as if the in game head movement is 'catching up' to what was tracked between when the hangar laods and when you can assume control.  If I alt-tab out to check on FTNOIR my machine does a weird lockup where I can move my mouse but can't CTRL+ALT+Delete even to kill the processes; then I have to hard reset.

Has anyone else experienced this - or can you tell me what your setup is?

He is using a trackIR 5, which is a retail IR Tracking device.  I am using a DIY with FaceTrackNOIR or Opentrack.  I have seen people who have it setup and it looks like it works for them.  But I am having major issues with it.

which camera do you use and what success have you had on other games?  Just curious before jumping into getting a camera.
My rig runs solitaire on ultra high resolution!

I am using a PS3 camera and a diy 3 point IR emitter.  It works perfectly in Elite Dangerous and Arma 3.
