Thanks to a hidden "level" in the hangar app you can actually hop into a Hornet and fly it around today.  This level includes weaving among some asteroids, taking pot shots, and crashing.

Step 1: Go into \Star Citizen\CitizenClient\data\Levels

Step 2: Swap the folder names for each other ("Ships_Illum" and "HangarApp")

Step 3: Profit.  Load the game as normal.  + and - keys to control acceleration
