Post by: {ShadowWX} on July 22, 2009, 06:31:45 AM
I wish I had known about this earlier because this is on aug 1&2 so its a little too late now but I'm just gonna throw it out there so maybe we can be ready for next year.

I'm going to see if I can make it, its only like 20 minutes from my place.

BTW with the corp backing and all I dunno why we can put 150+ butts in seats and others are struggleing.  Must be Kevins machismo drawing us in like a moth to a flame...

I just a Pittco notice that they only have 20% of the people payed for. And they need 70% just to get a figure so they can plan it out. Don't believe that is going to happen.

Actually, the gxl lan isn't looking any better.

I think we made a wise decision to opt for a winter LAN over a summertime one.  Then again these low numbers could be a reflection of something besides the season.

Be sure to let us know how it goes....and keep an eye out for any good ideas we can steal borrow from them for our LAN's ;)

Will do :)

There's like 335 paid now for it so it should be pretty interesting.  They don't have as many tournaments and it appears no consoles setup either.  Ill write a review when I get back that could help us plan better.

COD4 5v5, likely CAL rules
UT3 1v1, dunno if they are doing anything but a straight game.

well they have a ton of food, the air conditioning is keping things cool,  and all those punkers from the gxl are here and setup a console gaming area.

the generator blew 2 hours ago and they have just started to restore power.  otherwise pretty successful.

1. Take a picture of Turkey!
2. Draw a heart around him in paint.
3. Make it your wallpaper and screensaver.
4. ??????
5. Profit!

Yes, and thankfully they weren't on generator power so the consoles stayed up the 2-3 hours the tech needed for the generator.

So there were some power problems?

Post by: zx2slow on August 02, 2009, 02:39:02 PM
Power was out for 2-3 hours for all the gamers, the consoles were off of building power but the PC's were all running off a generator that wasnt big enough to meet demand.

Just as an FYI I am in charge of the generator (and all power stuff) for NorEaster and it wasn't a matter of the generator not being big enough it was a matter of the fuel filter getting clogged and the generator shutting itself off, stupid I know but thats what happened, this is the 6th time we have run an event off of a generator with 0 issues previously. We built our own distribution system for the event and have actauly never blown a breaker, the powerstrips always go first :P

BTW Thanks for attending hope to see some of you guys next year.

Isn't it always the strange unexpected things that give the largest headaches at LANS?  Anyhow, congrats on a great LAN from what it sounds.

Oh we have our share of meltdowns that are out of our control. I would love to make it to these large LANs happening right now... But wedding stuff comes first.
