BurningLAN 2.0: May
« on: April 01, 2009, 10:42:10 AM »
Hey FITES gamers!

If you were at the last FITES event you probably saw the four guys in BurningLAN "Event Staff" t-shirts. BurningLAN has another event coming up in May, and we'd really like to get some of the older Central PA crowd in on it.

Our capacity is rather limited due to venue restrictions, but we can seat about 75 PC users and quite a few more console users. If you haven't been to a BurningLAN event, here's a little info:

We've got a full gigabit network (one that's still being improved, but it's great for filesharing and lagless gaming).

You've got alot more room at your seat. Two people per 8-foot table makes for a very comfy LAN.

There is no carpet. Everything is either plastic, metal, cement, or drywall. Why do you care? Because carpet and other materials insulate and store heat. A hot LAN can be uncomfortable. BurningLAN, despite it's name, is not hot.

We're MUCH cheaper than most of the bigger LANs. $10.00 if you pre-register on the website (you pay when you get there), or $20.00 for unregistered at-the-door admission. The price is so much lower because we don't have to pay for the venue like others do.

We have quite a few sponsors, including Vroom Foods, EDGE tech, ThermalTake, BAWLS, Alliance Computer, D-Link, and a ton of others that I don't feel like listing, so prizes are usually pretty good.

The proceeds are split between a donation to the church (where we hold the events) and miscellaneous event costs, so you'd actually be helping a charity by attending :D

The caveat: our internet connection sucks. It's fine for checking your email and browsing, but it's pretty much crap for anything bandwidth-intensive.

Now, on to actual event info. If you're interested and want to check us out, our next event is:

BurningLAN 2.0: May
------------------------------
May 1st-2nd,
9:00PM-9:00AM**

Zion Lutheran Church
2215 Brandywine Lane
York, PA 17404

$10.00 if you register online before the event.
$20.00 if you don't register.

Tournaments Include:
Counter-Strike: Source 4v4
Unreal Tournament 2004 4v4
Starcraft 1v1

Super Smash Brothers: Brawl 2v2 (Wii)

We've got lots of open slots for tournaments, so if you have a suggestion, let us know.

**Yeah, I know... "Only 12 hours! WHAT?!". It's a venue restriction, and we're looking at changing venues. Just bear with us there.
-----------------------------

If you need more info, hit up the website at: http://burninglanyork.com/, or email me at eric.abruzzese@burninglanyork.com.

Thanks guys! Hope to see you there!

Maybe, I am not sure yet.

EDIT: On their site the event dropped from $10.00 & $20.00 to $5.00 for everyone.

Hmmmmm I may go if I can get off work.
