Bluetek
« on: December 31, 2007, 01:33:41 PM »
I am sure most of you remember Bluetek Computers. They did a few sponsorships for you guys back in the day. (Please see 100 Man Lan at the Auction House). I know Pride remembers Sam Dubs, me and him go way back. I used to work for him for a time, well now he is going to host his own Lan Party. If any of you know the Mechanicsburg Area that well, he owns a little shop just passed the Mechanicsburg High School.

Just before you get out over the bridge onto Williams Grove road, there is a little shop just before the bridge. It used to be the Williams Grove Hobbies, but they moved to Harrisburg. So now he is renting the building out, he moved the shop over and now he has 2 buildings in the complex to host the lan.

He is hoping for about 50 people, and he would like to get some UT3 going. It is still up in the air whether it is going to be in January or February. But I see him on a regular basis, I just thought I would throw this out there. To anyone who is interested in attending.

Wait for it........................ Wait for it...........................

Shadow: "Will you be attending?"

Tibs:"Most definetly, I live like 4 blocks from the place. So I don;t have any reason why I shouldn't."

Sorry went off on a whim there for a second. Anyways just thought I throw this out there. I will keep you posted.

 :beers:

Is this where we start pulling out random posts from the Tibs excuse thread on why he won't make it??  If he does make it, will it just be a cameo or will his computer make it as well??  I think we need a betting pool for this.

UPDATE:

Well I stopped by to see Sam today. He is hoping for a late January, early February. He just hasn't had the time to plan this because of the shop.

Well there is probably going to be a Fites LAN in that same time frame and I enjoy them better then other parties, mostly because I know almost everyone there and it almost feels like family at times.  I think that statement alone says volumes about the success that is FITES!

While I am all for others in the gaming world to start lanparties... it amazes me how many people just think they can throw a bunch of people in a room and have a successful lanparty.  The Staff here at FITES knows that this just isn't the case.  There is A LOT of planning and work that goes into even the smallest lanparty.  I believe that is why FITES has been so successful... its due to the Staff and their willingness to do the pre-work to ensure the LANs are a success!  Getting 50 people together and keeping them happy is no easy task.

It wasnt about me... it was about Kevin, Sully, Shado, etc... I'm not nearly as involved as they are anymore.

Most likely March for this lan party. I just talked to Sam this week. He wants to do it where it isn't as cold out.

Heh.. I for one can vouch for that as the amount of work and planning it takes to  throw a successful LAN. When I threw some slightly smaller lan's (25-35 people), it was pretty stressful and time consuming. I think that most who have never thrown a LAN before  themselfs takes Fites for granted. When you get into a large volume of people together, you cant just throw up a listen UT server and have everything go off perfect. Time is dedicated to configuring full dedicated servers, organizing game schedules and tournament times, troubleshooting others computers and making sure patches are available, etc. In short, it's a lot of work and I for one am very grateful to the Fites staff for dedicating there time and energy to a fun and positive experience for computer gamers

Thank you Shado, Cuzz, Sully, Bill, Tekie, Dave, Agent (though I don't know what that crazy track mouse guy does...lol) and everyone else who makes Fites a success
