UT3's new titan pack would be fun this weekend too!!!! who's up for it???
-
I'm definitely game.
-
Meh, I don't own UT3.....

Neither do I. That is why I suggested BF2:HJ
-
alright hj it is. i thought everyone owned ut3!
-
I have it, just don't own it.
-
As long as I don't have the server set up to advertise, I don't think it'd be a problem.
-
yea, then we can play right?
-
I will work on getting it next week. I might be away this weekend anyway. Gonna visit the siblings and parents in Reading. Not sure if I will be around Friday or not. Haven't decided.
-
Um, seriously, why are people complaining about not owning UT3?
It's free this weekend on Steam. Just download and play. (It's under the "NOT Installed" section of the "My Games" tab)
-
Oh god; I have to reinstall it through Steam and it's 8 gigs!

Good luck, I am now on day 3 of downloading it and still dont have it. I thought I had it fixed last night after I changed my download region, but after checking today it says Im only at 64%... which is weird because if I check the common folder in my steam dir, the folder size for UT3 is over 8GB already... so I dont know WTF is goin on.
-
Steam usually pre-allocates the files when you start the downloading.

Lies... yesterday during my downloading, I noticed it at 1.2GB then I kept checking in on it now and then and saw it continuing to grow!
Before I went to bed it was at like 2.8GB....
-
I guess that's just for source games then. Because the GCF files DO pre-allocate.

I believe it.. I think I'm just fed up with this UT3 download. For a content delivery system, steam fails this time.

I have no clue if this helps, but when mark was downloading UT3 Black on thursday, he sent me this IM...
mkreafle: Well that picked Crap up. Quit steam and installed the titian mod over the unfinished download... LOL now it's updating.
*shrug*

Mine just says "Updating..." all the time... but when Im checking the download meter, I'm only getting 20-30KBps now... that is until it drops.
Plus Mark had UT3 installed already.
-
No he did the same thing you are doing. He bought it Thursday a little before noon, so he just started it earlier than most people. I was having the exact same problems early Thursday morning when it was released, just not near as bad. It would fluctuate between 10kbps - 350kbps. So the same thing still might apply for you.

Oh he told me that he had it installed, it just wasn't a legit copy, and he didnt have the updates...
-
Nope he bought it. He was complaining to me that he bought it for $20 RIGHT before they released the $12 deal heh. He was playing last night with us.

Haha ya ya I know that he bought it right before the price drop, but what Im saying is that he had the majority of the game installed already from playing at a previous LAN. The reason he bought it was so it was legit and could play with everyone online.
So he still would have had the majority of the game installed and only needed steam to do the updates, as where I am getting the entire game. Not sure if that is making a difference or not...
-
Took me about 30 hours to download...
-
well, it's still in, "download starting...," so I guess I won't be playing tonight....W
-
I was checking out the Steam Forums (right-click UT within Steam, then View Forum) and trying some of the things others are suggesting (such as deleting ClientRegistry.blob) but that didn't help me either. Every now and then it teases me by showing me a couple hundred KB/s for a second or two, then it's nothing for minutes or hours at a time. Still stuck at either 55% or Download starting... depending on when I glance at my Steam window.

Hey Jordan, can you post links to the map packs you installed on the server? I installed the community map pack from epic but you have maps that are 50MB+ and it's downloading ever so slowly from the server.
-
agent, what redirect are you using?
-
Slowly? It was downloading rather fast last night. I was playing at 3am with 9 random people and none of them were complaining. So I figured it must be normal. I'm using the same redirect as we used for UT2k4. http://uz3.gameservers.net/ut3/ (http://uz3.gameservers.net/ut3/)
It's the ONLY free redirect site out there. I installed CBP3 volume 1 and volume 2.
-
I installed CBP3 volume 1 and volume 2.
There are no packs on that site, just all map files. No worries, I'll just dl them when I log in. I just figured it would be easier to just DL the pack and install them.
-
Sorry, here you go:
CBP3 Volume 1 (http://files.filefront.com/cbp3+volume1+installerexe/;10787522;/fileinfo.html)
CBP3 Volume 2 (http://files.filefront.com/cbp3+volume2+installerexe/;12060369;/fileinfo.html)
-
yea they were dloading pretty quickly last night. but im gonna install the packs too.
-
Sorry, here you go:
CBP3 Volume 1 (http://files.filefront.com/cbp3+volume1+installerexe/;10787522;/fileinfo.html)
CBP3 Volume 2 (http://files.filefront.com/cbp3+volume2+installerexe/;12060369;/fileinfo.html)
So if you bought the game on steam. Where the hell do you install these downloads to?
-
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\UT3
Just the base folder no other folders in the UT3 folder.
-
Yeah install it just like you would a patch on any game. don't direct it to the maps directory, just run onto the install directory as Tibs stated above.
-
Ok Cool. Got them in. Now I just have to wait till later in the week when everyone else is on.
-
this somehow reminded me of Friday night on TeamSpeak, not sure why :)
Firefox Wheee! Behind the Scenes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQuo9FkcDGs&feature=related#lq-hq)
(for reference, this is the behind the scenes video to the "Wheee!" community firefox ad)
-

-
