You need the pockets for carrying stuff around and 99% of the time the place they are being held will get warm during the busy times. Bring sweatpants to throw over the shorts if it gets cold. Don't forget comfy shoes.

Being at a LAN party is kinda like taking a trip on an airplane, but comfortable and make the people around you nervous.
