hey people what's up?
i was reading this article about PC bangs in korea and thought about cyber cafes in the USA. yeahhhh, i don't think they exist. but it got me thinking about LAN parties and then i found this website from lanpartymap.com. i used to be heavy into CS 1.6, battlefield and mech commander back in the early and mid 2000s but then when i went off to college i didn't have the time to continue the glorious pursuits. but now that i am getting a new computer (currently rockin' a modded dell inspiron 8600 ) i will be able to play some of the newer games. what does everyone like to play? it sucks there is no viable LAN support for SC2, which the game i am most interested in playing on my new tower, but i'm down for pretty much anything.

Mostly we play FPS games. Lately we have been playing a lot of BC2 (Battlefield Bad Company 2). We will play some Team Fortress 2, Grand Theft Auto 4, Halflife 2 Deathmatch, or whatever else sounds interesting. Normally we will get on our TeamSpeak 3 server on Friday and Saturday nights to chat and game but this weekend is our big LAN of the year. Try us next weekend. The TS info is on the main page and good luck with your new computer.

right on. i'm psyched to get a new tower sometime in the near future. i've been going through new egg over the past couple days to scope prices and get hardware reviews. i just got my mom a new laptop and it was a seriously good feeling and it wasn't even for me! better than sex?

one other thing, do i need to have my own copy/cd? like UT III i thought you could use it on multiple machines for LAN tournies

Most of the games now do not let you install on multiple machines and each user will need his own copy of the game to be able to play online. At the LAN parties most of the servers are setup just as if they were on the internet and PunkBuster is enabled so only legitimate keys will be allowed in the servers.
