Hey Everybody - Moscow/Scranton PA here
« on: August 06, 2011, 05:24:51 PM »
Hey everyone. My name is Bobby and I just wanted to say hi. I've known about FITES for a few years now but this is my first post. Let me tell you all a little about myself.

I'm 24 and like the title says I'm from Moscow (right around Scranton). I'm currently in my senior year at Marywood and I'm pursuing my degree in Mathematics (I love numbers). I currently work for a financial adviser and am working my way up as a junior adviser. I hope that in the next few years I will be able to work my way up to a full advisory position and join the firm (and make bank 8)).

Now as far as games go I have just gotten back in PC gaming. I used to be a hardcore  :hail: Q3A tourney player back around 2001 and I really enjoyed the original COD as well.  I then sold my PC and continued gaming on my 360 for the last few years up until 3 months ago when I sold my 360 and built a new rig to game on. I play Quake Live and BC2 right now the most. I also enjoy the L4D series when I have serious people to play with. I'm really looking forward to BF3 and Dead Island too. Not sold on Diablo 3 yet.

I'm basically back at square one with PC gaming and I have no friends to play with. (They all roll on consoles) I would love to meet people from the area to game online with and make friends with them. Maybe you vets and regulars can tell me about yourselves? Do you guys still do LANs around the area? Also what is the average age? I'm not biased towards anyone because of their age but I guess Xbox turned me off from the younger crowd (If any of you play COD on live you know what I'm talking about  :angryfire:). Thanks guys. Lookin forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome!

We certainly do lans in the area. In fact, we have an annual 200(+?) person lan the last weekend of February in Mechanicsburg, PA. We're very active on our teamspeak server in the evenings (link on the front page).

We tend to attract an older crowd here. FITES enjoys it's free time and is happy to see new people discover us.

Mother of god...could it be?  Another person to play QuakeLive with? :)

Feel free to add me (gri3v) as I play pretty regularly myself.

If you can, I HIGHLY suggest making the effort to go to the FITES 200 man LAN in late Feb, as its by FAR the best big LAN in PA :)

I will add you up as soon as I can my man. I love and will always love Quake 3 and Quake Live. That game IMHO is still the best competitive FPS ever created. I actually heard that a lot of Live players are going back to the Q3A servers because of PB issues with Live. Have you heard about this? I'm just getting back into it so I have yet to experience the cheating that I heard about but apparently the top tier is rampant with aimbots. Anyways, add me on Steam too since I noticed you play BC2.

Also, yes I plan on attending the 200(+) Man Lan. Should be a great time.

Haha - I remember the first time I pulled one of those out of a chick...

What if bodies just had random errors like computers do?

What kind of Fudgeing computer errors are you getting?

we were playing quake live at quakecon this past week and kept having random issues.  They had onsite quakelive servers, but they seemed, at times, to be more laggy than the internet-based ones.  Also noticed using chrome was VERy buggy.  The games would launch, but most of the friends stuff wouldn't work at all.  Switched to IE and it worked a little better, but was still buggy to get into games, having to "reload" or whatever often.

That is the best editing of any frag video I've seen, not just Q3A. Definitely very well done.
